Cheer initiative brings visually impaired fans to UAE 2019 matches
27th January 2019
Abu Dhabi: The visually impaired have been attending AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 matches under the 'Cheer' initiative.
The Cheer campaign is an initiative of HRH Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, the vice president of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, UAE Public Authority for Communications and the Asian Football Confederation for the visually impaired to enjoy and interact during matches.
Fifteen visually impaired fans attended the UAE's quarter-final with Australia at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain last Friday.
The Cheer initiative provides the visually impaired with devices that enable them to hear live commentary of matches, enabling them to participate in cheering the players.
UAE Pro League side Al Ain Club started this initiative to enable fans with special needs to participate in matches with the latest devices.
