Big spenders Chelsea are working around the clock to sign Ghana and West Ham midfielder Kudus Mohammed in a deal worth £60 million in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The proposed offer is expected to include an initial £55 million fee, with an additional £5 million in performance-related add-ons.

Kudus has become a key target for Chelsea as new manager Enzo Maresca looks to bolster his squad ahead of the upcoming season.

The Blues are not alone in their pursuit of the 23-year-old, with Tottenham Hotspur also expressing strong interest.

Spurs are believed to have already submitted a bid, which was turned down by West Ham, who are reportedly holding firm for at least £60 million — the exact value of Chelsea’s planned package.

Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax in 2023 for £38 million and has since been a standout performer. In 80 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 19 goals, showcasing his versatility and flair in attacking roles.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, speaking after his side’s 2-1 win over Palmeiras in the FIFA Club World Cup, offered subtle praise for Kudus while staying within the bounds of transfer protocol.

“He’s a West Ham player, so I can’t say much,” Maresca said. “The only thing I can say is that I’ve known Kudus since his time at Ajax.”

Kudus’ technical ability, work rate, and potential for further growth have made him one of the most sought-after young talents in the Premier League, with Chelsea seemingly ready to test West Ham’s resolve.
