Court adjourns Akosua Serwaa's injunction case over Daddy Lumba’s funeral
16th October 2025
The Kumasi High Court 5, presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, has postponed to October 28, 2025, the hearing of a legal dispute involving Akosua Serwaa and Priscilla Ofori Atta, also known as Odo Broni, over who should be recognised as the legitimate surviving spouse of the late Ghanaian music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu (Daddy Lumba).
In her application, Akosua Serwaa is asking the court to affirm her status as the lawful wife of the late musician and to grant her exclusive rights to perform all widowhood rites.
She is also seeking an order to restrain the Lumba family head, Kofi Owusu Fosu, from acknowledging Odo Broni as a spouse of the deceased, and to prevent Odo Broni from publicly presenting herself as his widow.
During proceedings on Thursday, counsel for the first defendant raised an objection challenging Akosua Serwaa’s legal standing in the case and requested that the court rule on the matter before continuing.
Justice Smith Arthur instructed all parties to file their written submissions and responses by October 28, when the case will resume.
In her remarks, the presiding judge encouraged both parties to pursue an amicable resolution, noting Daddy Lumba’s enduring influence on Ghana’s music scene and the need to handle the matter with dignity and respect.
The high-profile case has generated widespread public interest, with many followers of the late musician closely monitoring the proceedings for updates.
