A circuit court in Sefwi Bodi in the Western North Region has remanded a man suspected of involvement in a series of violent robberies in parts of the Juaboso District.

The suspect, Victor Biney, also known as Abeiku, was remanded into custody on Thursday, December 18, 2025, after appearing before the court in connection with an alleged robbery attack on miners at Sefwi Antobia. Presiding judge, His Honour Frank Asiedu Nimako, denied a bail application filed by the defence, ordering that Biney remain in custody. He is expected to reappear in court on January 15, 2026.

Biney, who is well known in Juaboso and surrounding communities, is said to present himself as a spiritualist, claiming to provide protective charms and so-called “black powers” against gunshots and cutlass attacks. Police say his arrest followed weeks of investigations into a violent robbery at a mining site in Sefwi Antobia, with further inquiries linking him to several robbery incidents across the Juaboso area.

Among the cases under investigation is a daylight robbery at a wholesale shop, during which one person was shot and killed, and large sums of money were allegedly stolen.

In addition to the current charges, the suspect is reportedly facing a separate criminal case before the Bibiani Circuit Court, where judgment is expected on December 22, 2025.

The Juaboso District Police Command has assured residents that investigations are ongoing and that efforts are underway to arrest other suspects believed to be part of the robbery network.
