Curses invoked in Kwahu as tensions rise over queen mother’s abduction
20th November 2025
Tensions are escalating in parts of Kwahu after traditional leaders performed powerful ritual curses against individuals they believe were involved in the arrest of the Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyamfua III.
The spiritual rites, carried out at multiple locations, targeted security officers, chiefs, and civilians who are suspected to have played a role in what elders describe as an unjust and humiliating arrest.
According to the elders, the curses call on the gods to punish anyone who wronged the Queen Mother or her lineage, stressing that the rituals will only be revoked when truth is established and justice is served.
The development follows the Queen Mother’s emotional public narration of her arrest, during which she said her vehicle was forcibly stopped, the tyres deflated, and she was taken into custody in a manner she found degrading.
Her account has sparked outrage among several chiefs, who say the incident constitutes an affront to the Kwahu stool and its authority.
Meanwhile, Nana Kwasi Opoku Minta II has urged calm, revealing that the Inspector-General of Police has assured the traditional council of a thorough investigation into the matter.
However, the curses remain active as traditional leaders await the outcome of official inquiries.
