The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed reports circulating online that Mr. Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Energy, has been arrested or detained in Dubai following EOCO’s alleged inaction on a fraud petition.

In a statement released on Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO described the claims, published by Novareport, as “false and misleading,” urging the public to disregard them.

The anti-graft agency clarified that it is currently conducting two active investigations involving Springfield Energy — one from a petition filed against the company, and another related to an ongoing case with the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).

“It is the policy directive of the leadership of EOCO that investigations must precede arrest and not the reverse,” the statement read, stressing that the BOST-Springfield case is a priority investigation because of its potential economic implications.

EOCO also expressed disappointment that the news outlet failed to verify the information before publication.
“Though EOCO does not comment on active investigations, it is regrettable that Novareport did not seek clarification before running the false story,” it said.

Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and transparency, EOCO assured the public that it remains dedicated to investigating and prosecuting economic and organised crimes in Ghana.

The Office concluded by calling on Ghanaians to ignore the misleading publication, emphasising that it is “actively working on not one, but two investigations involving Springfield Energy.”
