Florence Obinim, gospel singer and wife of the founder and leader of the International God’s Way Church, Bishop Daniel Obinim, has responded firmly to public speculation about her physical appearance, rejecting claims that she has undergone cosmetic surgery.

Speaking openly on the Christmas Edition of Experience in Life with Nayas, Mrs Obinim said her transformation has nothing to do with going under the knife, but rather years of intense spiritual sacrifice and personal discipline.

According to her, prolonged fasting undertaken in support of her husband’s ministry has significantly affected her body weight, leading to visible changes that have fuelled public commentary.

“I have not done any surgery,” she stressed, explaining that her appearance is the result of sustained fasting and prayer during a difficult period in her husband’s ministry.

Mrs Obinim revealed that she deliberately placed her gospel music career on hold out of love and commitment, choosing instead to stand in prayer for her husband. She disclosed that she has engaged in extended fasting periods of 30, 40 and even 120 days, dedicating herself to spiritual intercession.

She acknowledged that the fasting has caused noticeable weight loss, adding that she personally prefers to stay slim and is often reminded by her husband whenever she begins to gain weight.

Looking ahead, she assured fans that she intends to return to her gospel music ministry once her husband’s church is fully restored, promising to sing again “as I used to.”

Drawing parallels from scripture, Mrs Obinim cited John 10:17–18, likening her sacrifice to Christ’s willingness to lay down His life, saying she too has chosen to set aside her comfort and career for the sake of her family and ministry.

She also addressed the criticism and ridicule she has faced, saying she remains unshaken by negative commentary on social media. Referencing Psalm 125, she said those who trust in God are like Mount Zion, immovable and secure.

Quoting Matthew 5:11–12, she encouraged herself to remain joyful despite insults and false accusations, noting that the Bible promises great reward for those who endure persecution for righteousness’ sake.

Florence Obinim’s remarks come amid widespread public debate and social media speculation about her recent appearance, with opinions sharply divided.

However, her response makes it clear that, for her, the changes reflect spiritual commitment rather than cosmetic enhancement.
