GAF arrests recruitment applicant for forged documents at El-Wak screening
20th November 2025
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has apprehended a recruitment applicant after officials detected forged documents during screening at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.
Specialists assigned to validate credentials immediately flagged the inconsistencies, leading to the suspect’s arrest to prevent, in the words of officials, “fraudsters infiltrating the military.” The individual has since been handed over to security agencies for further investigation.
Colonel Evelyn Asamoah, Director of Protocol, confirmed the incident and emphasized that the verification system in place is robust enough to identify impostors and protect the credibility of the recruitment process.
GAF officers also noted that aside from the isolated fraud case, screening has proceeded without further disruption following the November 12 stampede that resulted in six deaths and forced a temporary suspension of the exercise.
