Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has praised new Black Stars defender Derrick Arthur Köhn, describing him as an “exceptional talent” ahead of Ghana’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers.
The Germany-born left-back, who previously represented Germany at the U19 level, has officially switched nationality to represent Ghana and is part of Otto Addo’s 24-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali next month.
Speaking to Starr FM, Asante Twum welcomed the 26-year-old Union Berlin defender into the Black Stars fold.
“Derrick Arthur Köhn has gladly agreed to switch his nationality from Germany to Ghana. Derrick Arthur Köhn is an exceptional talent who has very good attributes as a defender,” he said.
Köhn, who enjoyed a standout loan spell at Werder Bremen last season before joining Union Berlin this summer, is expected to report to camp on Monday, September 1, when the Black Stars regroup in Accra to prepare for the crucial double-header.
Ghana will face Chad on September 4 in N’Djamena before returning to host Mali on September 8 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
