Ghanaian Afrobeats and R&B sensation KiDi has lamented the absence of proper structures to support the country’s music ecosystem, arguing that what exists cannot be described as a functioning industry.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie, the award-winning artiste said creatives are forced to rely solely on their own resources because there are no systems in place to sustain their growth.

“Every musician in Ghana has to fend for themself and strive their way with individual resources due to the lack of a structure,” KiDi noted.

He cited poor royalty collection and weak industry support mechanisms as examples of the gaps holding the sector back.

According to him, the absence of such structures not only makes the industry unattractive to investors but also fuels unfair criticism of artistes, who are often blamed for challenges beyond their control.
