Ghana’s Alexander Adjei crowned top scorer at 2024 Beach Soccer AFCON in Egypt

Ghanaian forward Alexander Adjei claimed the Top Scorer award at the 2024 Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations in Egypt, finishing the tournament with an impressive eleven goals.
The award was presented by CAF President Patrice Motsepe alongside other officials during the medal ceremony on Saturday, October 26, at the Hurghada Beach Soccer Arena.
Adjei’s stellar performance was instrumental for Ghana’s Black Sharks, who secured a 5th-place finish after defeating Mozambique in a play-off.
Ghana finished third in Group A, missing the semifinals but showcasing resilience in their final match.
The championship title went to Senegal, who overpowered Mauritania 6-1 in the final, while Morocco edged out host nation Egypt in a tight battle for third place.
This marks the second time Adjei has won the top scorer accolade, following his previous triumph at the 2015 Beach Soccer AFCON in Seychelles.
Reflecting on the honor, Adjei expressed gratitude, saying, “I am honored to receive this recognition. It’s a testament to the hard work of my teammates and our coaching staff. We gave it our all, and I look forward to continuing to improve.”
The tournament’s thrilling conclusion underscores the growth of beach soccer in Africa, as more nations emerge as formidable competitors in the sport.
