Hannover 96 managing director Marcus Mann has expressed strong optimism following the club’s acquisition of Hendry Blank, describing the 20-year-old German-Ghanaian defender as a future standout in their backline.
Speaking after the announcement of Blank’s one-year loan deal with a purchase option from RB Salzburg, Mann was full of praise for the young defender’s physical attributes and untapped potential.
“Hendry is a very talented young player who has extremely pronounced physical skills — especially, he has really good speed,” Mann noted.“What he can do, he has already shown at a high level. Now it’s about using the preparation to get into rhythm and play regularly.
Then he can definitely be a player where we will have a lot of fun.”
Blank arrives at Hannover with a promising pedigree. A Bayer Leverkusen academy graduate, he developed further at Borussia Dortmund, where he was part of a youth setup that claimed multiple titles.
He later earned promotion to Dortmund’s U23 side and made his Bundesliga debut in January 2024 against FC Cologne.
The defender joined RB Salzburg shortly after, featuring in Austrian Bundesliga matches and the UEFA Champions League, but struggled to cement a regular starting spot.
Internationally, Blank has donned the Germany jersey at U20 and U21 levels, though his Ghanaian roots continue to keep him on the radar of the Black Stars.
Now at Hannover 96, Blank is seen as a vital addition as the club aims to fortify its defensive options for the 2025/26 2. Bundesliga campaign, with hopes of both short-term impact and long-term growth.
