The Volta Regional Chief Engineer of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Emmanuel Johnson, has paid a working visit to the regional leadership of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and enhance public service delivery.

The meeting created an opportunity for the two institutions to discuss shared operational challenges and identify practical ways of deepening cooperation to ensure smoother operations in the year ahead.

Welcoming the GWL delegation, the Volta Regional General Manager of ECG, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, congratulated Emmanuel Johnson on his recent appointment and expressed optimism about closer collaboration between the two utilities.

She, however, raised concerns about GWL’s outstanding indebtedness to ECG, pointing out that the water company remains one of ECG’s major debtors in the region. She appealed for concrete steps to be taken to address the issue.

In response, Emmanuel Johnson acknowledged the financial obligations and proposed that the matter be escalated to the Head Offices of both organisations to enable a coordinated, fair, and sustainable resolution.

He also expressed GWL’s appreciation for ECG’s earlier technical recommendations, particularly on adjusting transformer tap settings at GWL headworks in the Volta Region, noting that GWL’s Head Office had responded positively to the proposals.

Mr. Johnson further commended ECG for its continued technical support and cooperation, stressing the importance of strong institutional partnerships in delivering reliable services to the public.

He was accompanied on the visit by Radford Djan Amo, the Volta Regional Production Manager of GWL.

The engagement concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to closer collaboration in the interest of efficient operations and improved service delivery to residents of the Volta Region.
