Hearts of Oak assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah has downplayed concerns that the club could face relegation this season, insisting such claims are premature despite their rocky start to the campaign.

Amankwah's response follows the Phobians' failure to secure a win in their first two matches of the season, which has sparked growing criticism.

Hearts of Oak suffered a surprising home defeat to league newcomers Basake Holy Stars in their opening match, followed by a 2-0 loss to Heart of Lions on Sunday.

While these early results have led to speculation that the team could be at risk of relegation, Amankwah remains confident this will not happen. He dismissed the idea, urging fans to remain calm and patient.

"No, it will never happen. It is too early for anyone to say Hearts of Oak will be fighting relegation, even though we didn’t start very well," Amankwah stated.

"Last season, some teams were at the top of the table after four or five matches, but by the end of the season, they were nowhere to be found."

Amankwah emphatically added, "Hearts of Oak will never be relegated."

Currently, Hearts of Oak sit at the bottom of the league table after back-to-back losses.

However, they will look to turn things around in their next match against Bechem United at home, hoping to secure their first points of the season.
