Former Asante Kotoko striker Ibrahim Osman has made a plea to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for assistance with his medical expenses.

The striker will require about GHC40,000.00 to undergo surgery to correct his injury but no help seems to be forthcoming.

"I was neglected by Nana Yaw Amponsah and his management; he refused to answer my calls, and now my contract with the club has expired. I'm pleading with GFA to help me with my surgery."

Injured former Asante Kotoko striker Osman Ibrahim told Accra-based Angel 102.9 FM "I have been home for more than a year without playing football, and I will need GHC40,000 for my surgery."

Osman, who previously played for the club, alleged that he was neglected by the club's management during his time with them.

The 24-year-old revealed that he returned to Asante Kotoko in August 2022 after a loan stint with King Faisal, nursing an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

Osman, whose contract with the Porcupine Warriors expired in June 2023, revealed that he has been grappling with the ACL injury for over a year and is currently without a club.

He explained that there were discussions between the medical teams of Asante Kotoko and King Faisal before he underwent an MRI scan, which confirmed the ACL injury.

He claimed that Nana Yaw Amponsah, the former CEO of Asante Kotoko, refused to answer his calls, and now that his contract with the club has expired, he is in need of medical surgery.

Osman has requested help from the GFA to cover the costs of his surgery.

It is not uncommon for players to face challenges with medical expenses, especially when their contracts with clubs expire.

Osman's plea highlights the importance of support systems and assistance for players, particularly those facing health-related issues after their time with a club.
