Ghanaian singer and songwriter Sista Afia has revealed that she believes her career might have reached greater heights had she chosen to pursue gospel music instead of her current secular path.

Speaking in an interview on Top FM, the “Weather” hitmaker reflected on her musical journey, saying she is convinced that her talent and background in church music could have propelled her to even greater fame.

However, she noted that she remains content and grateful for her current success, emphasizing that she trusts in God’s plan for her life.

“If I had pursued gospel, I believe I would have been more successful by now. But I feel content with what I’m doing because it’s God who places us where we are meant to be,” she said.

Sista Afia shared that her musical roots trace back to the church, where she began singing as a child. At just ten years old, she recorded a seven-track gospel album titled “Jesus Christ” under the guidance of Pastor Sly of the Kingdom Light Ministry in Kumasi. Although the album was never officially released, she revealed that copies still exist at her mother’s home.

The singer, who rose to prominence with her 2018 hit “Jeje” featuring Shatta Wale, also admitted during a recent appearance on The Delay Show that despite her dedication and consistency, she sometimes feels she may never become a mainstream favourite in Ghana’s music industry.

Sista Afia said she has since made peace with her journey, acknowledging that success does not always come in the form of popularity, and that every artist’s path unfolds according to divine timing and purpose.
