Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that Inaki Williams will miss Ghana's upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger due to an ongoing injury issue.

Williams, who was absent from Bilbao's recent 1-1 draw against Valladolid in La Liga, is dealing with an overload in his left hamstring.

Valverde stated that it was in the forward’s best interest to remain in Bilbao for recovery, ruling him out of the Black Stars' crucial matches this month.

"I don't think he'll be able to play this time because he hasn't been able to be here with us," Valverde explained, stressing that Williams needs time to fully recover.

Despite a solid season so far with Bilbao, where he has scored five goals in all competitions, Williams' struggles with Ghana continue.

He failed to score during the last international break, in which Ghana suffered a loss to Sudan and a draw, jeopardizing their qualification hopes.

Ghana now faces a challenging task to secure qualification, with their next match against Angola on November 15, followed by a crucial encounter with Niger in Accra on November 18.
