Forward Daniel Agyei has described his first call-up to the Ghana national football team as a “massive honour”, expressing pride at the opportunity to represent his country on the international stage.
The 28-year-old striker, who plays for Kocaelispor, has been named in head coach Otto Addo’s 28-man squad for upcoming high-profile friendlies against Austria and Germany.
Speaking after the announcement, the London-born forward said the invitation represents a significant milestone in his career.
“It’s a massive honour to be called up to the Ghana national team,” Agyei said. “As a player, you always do your best to represent your country at this level, and to finally get this opportunity means everything to me. I’m ready to give my all.”
Agyei’s inclusion follows an impressive season in Turkey, where his physical presence and work rate have drawn the attention of the national team’s technical handlers.
Having previously played for AFC Wimbledon and Crewe Alexandra, his progression to the senior national team adds fresh attacking depth as Ghana steps up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He is one of four debutants in a squad that blends experienced players with emerging talent, as the Black Stars continue to rebuild under Addo.
Agyei is expected to join the team’s training camp in Europe this week ahead of the friendly against Austria on 27 March, followed by a clash with Germany three days later.
