Manhyia Palace reschedules final funeral rites of Daddy Lumba
11th November 2025
The Manhyia Palace has announced a new date for the final funeral rites of the late Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
The ceremony will now take place on December 13, 2025, instead of the initially proposed December 6.
The decision was made during a meeting held at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10, 2025, where a new funeral committee, chaired by Dadiesoabahene, was constituted to oversee all arrangements.
At the meeting, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, sister of the late musician, requested that a postmortem examination be conducted to determine the exact cause of death, citing suspicions of foul play.
She further appealed for a postponement of the funeral until the results of the autopsy were made available.
In response, the Chiefs ruled that the postmortem issue would be handled by the Ghana Police Service, while confirming December 13 as the official date for the funeral.
They also urged the bereaved family to remain united and work together to ensure a dignified farewell for the iconic musician.
Regarding the invocation of the Great Oath, which was performed by Akosua Brempomaa, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has pardoned her, but cautioned against any future repetition of such an act.
The upcoming funeral is expected to draw thousands of mourners, including dignitaries, musicians, and fans, as Ghana prepares to pay its final respects to one of its most celebrated music legends.
