Actress Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about the physical, emotional and financial burden of her long recovery journey following a car accident more than a decade ago.
Speaking on TV3’s New Day programme with Cookie T on December 17, 2025, the actress revealed that her medical expenses in recent months alone have neared GH¢500,000. She said the cost goes beyond finances, highlighting the pain, stress and emotional trauma she has had to endure.
“If I should tell you the money I’ve spent on this hand, it’s almost GH¢500,000 since May till now. And remember, it’s not just the money — the pain, the stress, the emotional trauma. You need to go through it yourself because you can’t rely on people,” she said.
McBrown, who survived a car crash in January 2013, explained that her recovery has involved rigorous physiotherapy, including early morning sessions at the 37 Military Hospital and continued treatment at home.
She said she was required to work on her arm twice daily, using a stimulation machine she was trained to operate as part of the rehabilitation process.
Despite the difficulties, the actress expressed gratitude for her recovery, disclosing that she has undergone a total of five surgeries.
“This was my fifth and final surgery. I thank God that as I speak, I don’t feel the pain again," she noted.
McBrown added that while support from loved ones is helpful, healing ultimately becomes a deeply personal journey that demands resilience and self-discipline.
