A 42-year-old woman, Faustina Nti Kyeremah, has issued a heartfelt appeal for help, revealing the immense difficulties she faces in singlehandedly raising her 20 children under extremely challenging conditions.

Speaking in an interview with Crime Check Ghana released on December 16, Madam Kyeremah disclosed that she gave birth to the children with two different husbands, both of whom are deceased.

One died in a motor accident, while the other passed away after battling illness, leaving her as the sole caregiver for the entire family.

She explained that she earns a living by selling porridge, but the small income she makes is far from sufficient to cater for the children’s daily needs.

“What I earn from selling porridge cannot sustain us,” she said. “Almost everything goes into taking care of the children, especially their schooling.”

According to her, the family often survives on porridge alone, as she cannot afford to prepare balanced meals. She added that there are days she is forced to beg for money just to enable the children attend school, and on worse days, the children go to bed hungry.

Madam Kyeremah further shared concerns about her eldest son, who has completed Junior High School and secured admission to Accra Academy.

Although his tuition is covered under the Free Senior High School policy, she is unable to meet the GH¢30 daily transportation cost required for him to commute.

“I am pleading with Ghanaians to come to my aid,” she said emotionally. “Caring for 20 children alone is too much for me. Sometimes I cannot even afford their transport to school. Any help given is a lifeline for these children.”

She also expressed fear about what could happen to her children if her circumstances do not improve, stating that the stress and hardship have taken a toll on her health.

“If nothing changes, I fear I may die and leave these children behind with no one to take care of them,” she lamented.

Out of desperation, she admitted that she once considered sending the children to an orphanage but said the thought of being separated from them was unbearable.

Her story has drawn public sympathy, with many calling for urgent assistance to support her family and safeguard the future of the children.
