Viktoria Plzen head coach Martin Hysky has praised Ghanaian forward Prince Adu Kwabena, describing him as “a different player” following his return from the March international break.
The 22-year-old striker delivered an impressive performance in Plzen’s goalless draw against league leaders Slavia Prague on Sunday, earning his first start since early March and leading the attack with renewed energy and purpose.
Hysky believes Adu’s transformation is being driven by a clear personal ambition, representing Ghana at the FIFA World Cup.
“After returning from the international break, I saw a different player,” Hysky said. “He has a big ambition to represent Ghana at the World Cup. If he continues like this, he will be very important for us in the rest of the season.”
Adu stood out as one of Plzen’s most dangerous attacking threats, a notable improvement from his earlier struggles in the defeat to Zlín. His pace, movement and direct approach caused persistent problems for Slavia Prague’s defence, even though he was unable to convert a promising chance following a strong individual run.
“We all know what he is capable of,” Hysky added. “He’s a game-changing player who can rise to big occasions. It’s just unfortunate he couldn’t convert his chance after a great individual run.”
Despite inconsistency this season, Adu has contributed seven goals and one assist in 37 appearances across all competitions. With Viktoria Plzen pushing for a strong finish to the campaign, his resurgence could prove crucial in the weeks ahead.
For the young forward, the renewed form may not only boost his club’s ambitions, but also strengthen his case on the international stage as he eyes a place in Ghana’s future World Cup squad.
