19th June 2018
Muslim leaders in the Gomoa East constituency have condemned their Member of Parliament Hon Kojo Asomani for organising a street jam in the name of Eid celebration, accusing him of perpetrating "satanic acts".
Hon Asomani on Saturday night blocked a main road for the organisation of 'sallah fest' jam, ignoring calls by the leaders not to encourage such celebrations.
He further ignored calls by road users to take the program to a nearby school park to ease traffic congestion on the Adade-Tuba road.
He is being accused of leading the Muslim youths "astray" by meddling in "condemnable acts" that has nothing to do with traditional Eid celebrations.
They have challenged him to offer scholarships for the muslim students and not what can destroys the "morale fabric" of Muslims.
The main road from adade to Tuba was blocked for the night.
The event was scheduled for 3 pm but it turned out to be a night jam, a development that the muslim leaders say is alien to Islam.
Speaking to ghanaguardian. sections of the constituents express regret over the MPs involvements in the events the ran through the night, amid security fears.
"Hon Asamani knows nothing about Islam, we didn't see him organising such a satanic acts during Christmas or Easter for his Christian brothers, he has not thought of bringing scholarship to the Muslim youths here but he is organizing this satanic acts for our boys and girls," said Alhaji Ibrahim one of the opinion leaders in the constituency.
"This is a condemnable acts by a member of Parliament who should be bringing development to the constituents and not acts that seeks to lead our youth astray and further exposes young girls and boys to this midnight danger.
"Is that all that he has for the Muslims in this constituency?"
"Destroys the morale fibre of Muslims,"he quizzed?
MP for music music
The Adade-Tuba road is an alternative road that links the Central region to the nation's capital, Accra.
According to drivers plying the road, the MP could have organsised the show at the nearby school park which had enough space to contain the crowd.
They have labelled him as a man who only acts for his "parochial interest".
"The MP could have easily organised this program at the zion park instead of blocking this busy road for his parochial interest," one of the drivers said.
"This is an act of irresponsibility and he must know he was voted to bring development to his people and not to be an MP for music music"
The events brought a lot of musicians to the Gomaoa East constituency with musician D flex being among the main artist for the night.
