NACOC arrests manufacturing executive over alleged cocaine smuggling at KIA

Operatives of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) have arrested a senior management staff member of a manufacturing company for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine out of Ghana through the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The suspect, whose identity has not yet been officially disclosed by authorities, is accused of concealing the illicit substance within a consignment of packaged gari (dried cassava flakes) intended for export.
According to security sources at the airport, the arrest followed an intelligence-led operation that flagged the shipment as suspicious.
NACOC officers subsequently intercepted the consignment and apprehended the suspect during routine export checks.
Investigators believe the individual serves as a key production executive at the manufacturing company, a position that may have given him access to packaging and export processes used in the alleged operation.
Law enforcement officials say investigations are ongoing to determine the exact quantity of the suspected cocaine involved, the intended destination of the shipment, and whether the suspect acted alone or as part of a wider trafficking network.
NACOC has reiterated its commitment to intensifying surveillance and intelligence-driven operations at Ghana’s ports of exit to disrupt drug trafficking activities and dismantle organised criminal syndicates operating within the country.
