New PHDC Board holds inaugural meeting, pledges support for petroleum Hub Project

The newly constituted Governing Board of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC) held its first official meeting on Thursday, December 11, 2025, pledging full collaboration with management to advance the objectives of the Corporation. The meeting took place at PHDC’s head office in Accra, providing board members an opportunity to commence their duties under the Corporation’s enabling statute.
In his opening remarks, Board Chairman George Blay-Morkeh reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting management in ensuring that the planned Petroleum Hub Project in Jomoro becomes a reality, noting its significant benefits for local communities and Ghana as a whole.
Blay-Morkeh highlighted that the Board comprises distinguished professionals with diverse expertise, which will be leveraged to drive the Corporation’s vision of establishing Africa’s premier petroleum and petrochemical hub. He emphasized that the welfare and interests of management and staff remain a top priority, and pledged the Board’s robust support to realize the ambitious petroleum hub initiative.
PHDC Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Toni Aubynn, who is also a board member, expressed gratitude to the Board for responding to President John Dramani Mahama’s call to serve the nation. Dr. Aubynn urged members to contribute their expertise, networks, and insights as the Corporation works to develop the Petroleum Hub Project—a transformative initiative expected to significantly enhance the Jomoro area and Ghana’s economy.
He assured the Board of management and staff’s full cooperation, vowing a united effort to position Ghana as Africa’s leading energy hub. Following the meeting, board members toured PHDC offices, engaging with staff and reaffirming their commitment to support them in executing their responsibilities.
The new PHDC Board, inaugurated on November 20, 2025, by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, is chaired by George Blay-Morkeh and includes Dr. Toni Aubynn, Esq. (Chief Executive Officer, PHDC), David Ampofo, Francis Tettey-Sackey, Esq., Patrick Ofori, Abednego Akuteck, and Dr. Mizpah Ama Dziedzorm Rockson.
