Public Relations Officer of Accra Hearts of oak Opare Addo has admitted that the club have been caught by a 'huge surprise' over the exit of Mark Noonan from his post as the club's Managing Director.

Opare Addo, in his reaction on Happy FM on Friday, said nobody in the Phobian fraternity was expecting Noonan to cut-off his managerial relationship with the Accra-based club, judging from his performance in just a year.

He intimated that the resignation of the American business mogul looked unplanned as at February when he left for the United States.

The Phobians on Thursday announced that Noonan will not return to his post, leading to the appointment of Fredrick Moore as his replacement, a move made by the board as a "backup plan".

According to Club's PRO, the American had shown no sign of ending his one year romance with the 107-year old club as at the time he was leaving the shores of Ghana.

"It has come as a huge surprise to all of us at Hearts Of Oak when we got Mark Noonan’s message," he said.

"He attributes it to family reasons and lack of domestic football in the country as the reasons he has resigned.

"It’s not strange that Mark Noonan decides to quit now not earlier but honestly he wasn’t planning on resigning when he left Ghana. We have not regretted bringing Mark Noonan because he has done well for the Club."

The appointment of Frerick Moore comes with immediate effect but Opare Addo has touted that as one of the moves expected from every "good institution."

"A good institution should always have a backup plan so immediately the news came that Mark Noonan has resigned the best decision the board could have done was to appoint Frederick Moore has his successor," he said.

According to a statement released on Thursday, the American exited the club on "personal reasons", coupled with lack of competitive football in the country that left him "frustrated".

Noonan officially began his duty in March 2018 with the task of reviving a club's fortune and image in his three(3) years contract with the former African Champions.

He left the country last month to attend to some family issues, according to the club's earlier statement in February .

On his appointment as the CEO, Noonan facilitated the movement of the team's training from the Legon Ajax Park to the Pobiman field, which has been earmarked for a sports complex.
