English Championship side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) have agreed to sign Peterborough United attacker and Ghanaian international Kwame Poku after hijacking Glasgow Rangers’ deal, reports revealed.

The 23-year-old is set for a medical at the London club as he heads in for the final phase of the deal to complete the move.

Poku, 23 is out of contract at the end of the month and Scottish giants Rangers were hopeful of winning the race for the Ghanaian's signature as they have been front runners for a while.

However, QPR have ambushed Rangers' move for the Ghanaian international and have suddenly reportedly agreed a compensation fee with Peterborough for the forward in what they regard as a big coup.

The London-born Ghana international has been a standout performer for the Cambridgeshire outfit since joining from Colchester in 2021.

Poku Afriyie amassed 23 goal involvements which involved 12 goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for The Posh in the 2024-25 campaign, despite missing a huge number of games due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the season.

His remarkable performances all season earned him a gargantuan recognition as he was named He was named the Overall Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and The Young Posh of The year awards at the End of Season Awards.

He is now set to make the step up to the Championship, a competition he had already featured in during his first season with The Posh in the 2021-22 season before tasting relegation.

The winger has already racked up more than 200 senior appearances for the Posh and Colchester, notching 36 goals and 37 assists to his name.

QPR are expected to appoint former Rennes boss Julien Stephan in the coming days after the R’s placed Marti Cifuentes on gardening leave in April.
