Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Ocloo, was left visibly stunned on Sunday after encountering piles of uncollected refuse along key streets in the Accra Central Business District (CBD).

The minister, who moved through the area without the usual entourage or police escort, went unnoticed by many traders, effectively blending in like an ordinary shopper.

Startled by the heaps of garbage left unattended near trading spots, she engaged the traders, initially addressing them in Twi.

When it became clear that many of them did not understand, she switched to English, demanding to know why they were carrying on business in front of such unsanitary conditions.

What shocked her most was the discovery that some of the worst-affected areas were just steps away from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) offices. Without hesitation, she placed an urgent call to the Mayor of Accra, directing immediate cleanup efforts.

Her unannounced visit, though unexpected, highlighted the persistent sanitation challenges in the capital and the apparent neglect of proper waste management practices in one of the busiest commercial hubs of the country.
