An okada rider has died in a hit-and-run crash involving a commercial bus, commonly known as a ‘trotro,’ at Tetegu on the Accra–Kasoa highway.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when the speeding bus collided with the motorcycle, which was carrying a passenger. The impact resulted in the rider’s death at the scene, while the pillion passenger survived but sustained serious injuries.

Eyewitnesses reported that the trotro driver fled the scene after the crash, despite knowing the extent of the damage caused.

Police later retrieved the body of the deceased and transported it to the mortuary, while the injured passenger was rushed to the hospital for treatment. The victim, who ran a motorcycle transport business at Old Barrier along the Kasoa road, was remembered by colleagues as a dedicated and hard-working individual.

His untimely death has left fellow riders at Old Barrier in shock, with many calling the incident a tragic and avoidable result of the trotro driver’s reckless actions.
