Olympiakos and Crystal Palace chase Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu
29th August 2025
Ghana international Mohammed Salisu could leave AS Monaco before the close of the summer transfer window, with several clubs expressing strong interest in the defender.
Since joining the French outfit from Southampton in 2023, the Black Stars centre-back has struggled to cement a regular starting place. Last season, Salisu made just 24 appearances across competitions, often serving as a backup option.
The 25-year-old initially battled injuries in his debut campaign and, despite featuring more frequently in his second season, he eventually slipped back into a secondary role.
His last competitive start for Monaco came in February, and the recent arrival of experienced English defender Eric Dier has further threatened his long-term prospects at the Principality club.
Sources indicate that Salisu is keen on a move to secure more consistent playing time. Greek giants Olympiacos have expressed firm interest in signing him, though they face competition from Premier League side Crystal Palace, who have reportedly contacted Monaco over a possible loan deal.
Salisu joined Monaco on a five-year contract in the summer of 2023 and has since registered 37 appearances, contributing three goals and one assist.
