Ghana's legendary former captain, Asamoah Gyan, marked his 38th birthday on November 22, 2023, sharing enchanting pictures on social media to commemorate the occasion.
The nation's all-time top scorer officially announced his retirement during the 30th Afreximbank Annual Meeting on June 20, 2023.
Gyan, born on November 22, 1985, holds a significant place in Ghanaian football history, being the country's all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals and the second most-capped player.
He is also Africa's all-time leading goal scorer in the FIFA World Cup, boasting six goals.
The former Liberty Professionals player enjoyed a storied playing career marked by high-profile transfers across the globe.
His journey included stints with clubs such as Sunderland, Rennes, Modena, Al Ain, Shanghai SIPG, and Kayserispor, among others.
Gyan made a significant impact on the international stage, representing Ghana in three FIFA World Cups (2006, 2010, 2014), the 2004 Summer Olympics, and seven Africa Cup of Nations tournaments (2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019).
His contributions helped Ghana secure a third-place finish in 2008 and runner-up positions in 2010 and 2015.
In addition to his illustrious playing career, Gyan recently launched his memoir, titled "LeGYANdry," showcasing his experiences and insights.
