Pius Enam Hadzide eying Asuogyaman NPP seat?

The Chief Executive Officer for National Youth Authority (NYA), Pius Enam Hadzide has been rumoured to be eyeing the Asuogyaman parliamentary seat.

A source close to Mr. Hadzide says he will context in the next parliamentary primaries for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The revealed scores of the constituents called on him to help secure the seat which the NPP lose it to the opposition NDC in the 2020 elections.

According to them, Pius is vibrant and can win the seat for the party in the 2024 general elections.

Even though Pius who partly hails from Asuogyaman and lived and worked as a teacher in the constituency has not officially confirmed to either contest or not, all indications show that he will contest the current NDC MP Ampem Nyarko, should is re-elected to contest for the third time.

Pius Enam Hadzide when contacted said although the people are calling on him, he has not decided yet on whether or not to contest the seat.

He quickly added that he will officially come out at the right time to announce his intention if truly he wants to contest the seat, adding that currently, he is embarking on community engagements and community developments in the constituency to court the public support.

The NYA boss, under the Pius Enam Hadzide Education Support Program, last week distributed over 10,000 exercise books to pupils and students under phase one of the distribution exercise.

The beneficiary communities were; Kudikope, Mpamproase, Anyaase, Asegya, Surveyline, Gyakiti, Adumasa, Agyena, Agyena donor, Sedom, Yeniama, Manya Yoyim, Ponponya, Nyameben, Sapor, Tortibo, Pupuni, and Kokono.

He is expected to distribute a total of 28,000 exercise books among other logistics to the Education Directorate, as he is also undertaken some developmental projects in the area.

The NPP parliamentary candidate for the Asuogyaman constituency, Paul Ansah Asare was defeated by the incumbent NDC MP Thomas Ampem Nyarko in the 2020 parliamentary election who retained the seat for the second term.

The incumbent MP polled 24,470 votes to beat his main contender Paul Asare Ansah who had 23, 232 votes from the 145 polling stations in the constituency.

The NDC MP managed to break the one-term parliamentary jinx in the Asuogyaman constituency by beating Paul Ansah with over 1,000 votes.
