Three suspects have been arrested by the Western Regional Police Command in connection with a daring daylight robbery that took place near Shama Junction at Nyanikrom on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

According to police sources, the arrests were the result of a targeted surveillance operation following credible intelligence that a group of criminals had planned to intercept a cash delivery using insider information.

The funds, intended for salary payments, had just been withdrawn from a bank in Takoradi by staff of an unnamed company.

The attack occurred around midday near Unique School Junction, where the armed assailants—riding a motorbike and an unregistered saloon vehicle—ambushed the company’s vehicle, shattered its windows, and made off with GH¢149,500.

Thanks to rapid response measures by law enforcement already deployed in the area, officers were able to apprehend the suspects shortly after the heist and recover the entire stolen amount.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Francis Mensah, also known as Francis Kwaw (34), Ebenezer Cofie (32), and Samuel Bentum (35).

They are currently in custody and assisting with investigations.

Police say a company driver, Maxwell Kofi Yeboah, is also suspected to have been involved in the plot and is currently on the run. A manhunt is underway to locate and arrest him.

The Western Regional Police Command has reiterated its resolve to intensify efforts to crack down on crime and ensure that all involved in the robbery are brought to justice.
