Prayers alone won’t save the country- Omah Lay tells Nigerians

Afrobeats singer Stanley Omah Didia, widely known as Omah Lay, has said that prayers alone will not solve Nigeria’s problems.
The artiste argued that meaningful change will only come when citizens take decisive action, rather than relying solely on religious intervention.
“No Jesus, no Allah, no prayer is saving us. Nothing changes until we wake TF up,” he wrote on his X handle on Thursday.
Omah Lay’s comments come amid renewed calls from Christian and Islamic clerics urging Nigerians to pray for the country as insecurity and economic difficulties continue to escalate.
Several public figures, including Don Jazzy, Davido, Falz, and Mr Macaroni have also expressed concern following recent incidents, such as the terrorist attack on a church in Kwara State and the kidnapping of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, and have urged authorities to act swiftly.
On Wednesday, singer Yemi Alade also weighed in, criticising calls for foreign intervention in Nigeria’s security crisis. She argued that “African problems need African solutions, not new problem.”
