Brandon Thomas-Asante continued his red-hot form in the English Championship, scoring the opener in Coventry City’s commanding 3–1 home win over Watford on Saturday at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The Black Stars forward needed just three minutes to make his mark, rising to meet a Tatsuhiro Sakamoto cross with a powerful header to give Coventry the lead — his seventh goal in six matches, and ninth overall in 11 league appearances.

Match Summary

  • 3’: Thomas-Asante heads in Sakamoto’s cross to open the scoring.

  • 7’: Jamie Allen doubles the lead after a corner is poorly cleared.

  • 45’: Sakamoto adds a third after capitalizing on a defensive error.

  • 44’: James Abankwa sees red for Watford.

  • 69’: Imran Louza pulls one back from the penalty spot.

The 26-year-old forward has now reached a whopping eleven (11) goal involvement in twelve (12) English Championship games for the league leaders as he has notched nine goals and registered three goals in all. He is currently the highest-rated player of the division and is making a huge statement in Coventry City's strides in the English Championship this campaign.

Thomas-Asante’s blistering form is not only fuelling Coventry’s title charge, but also strengthening his case for a Black Stars call-up ahead of Ghana’s Asian tour in November.
