Salis Abdul Samed hints on imminent Black Stars call up for OGC Nice teammate Kojo Oppong Peprah
23rd September 2025
Ghana international Salis Abdul Samed has dropped a strong hint that Kojo Oppong Peprah, his teammate at OGC Nice, could be in line for a maiden call-up to the Black Stars ahead of next month’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 21-year-old left-back has been one of Ligue 1’s standout performers this season, featuring in every match for Nice since his summer move from Swedish side IFK Norrköping. His consistency, defensive strength, and tactical maturity have reportedly caught the attention of Ghana head coach Otto Addo, who is preparing to name his squad for the final round of qualifiers.
“I knew him (as he played for Ghana’s U19s). He is a hard worker,” Salis told Getfootballnews. “The national team manager watched him a bit in the last match and asked me about him. I said he was a good guy who could help us and that he was strong defensively.”
When asked if Oppong could be invited for the October international break, Salis added:
“I hope so. That’s what the manager was saying, for the next international break, so we’ll see if he’ll be called up.”
The Black Stars currently sit top of Group I in the African qualifiers and are closing in on a fifth World Cup appearance. They face the Central African Republic on October 8 in Morocco, followed by a home clash against Comoros on October 11 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Oppong’s potential inclusion would add depth to Ghana’s defensive options, especially with Addo keen to integrate emerging talents alongside established stars.
