Samuel Inkoom charged with visa fraud
2nd December 2024
Former Black Stars defender Samuel Inkoom is facing charges of defrauding by false pretences in an Accra Circuit Court.
The 34-year-old is accused of taking $3,500 from a student, Benjamin Opare Addo, with the promise of securing a visa to the Netherlands, but failing to fulfill his commitment.
Inkoom, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, was granted bail of GH¢50,000 with one surety.
His lawyer stated that Inkoom had already refunded GH¢7,000 and was working to repay the remaining GH¢25,100, highlighting his cooperation with authorities and his good reputation as grounds for requesting bail.
According to prosecutors, between September and November 2023, Addo paid a total of GH¢32,100 to Inkoom, who purportedly owns S. Inkoom Travel and Tour Company.
Despite the payments, Inkoom allegedly failed to provide the promised visa or refund the full amount, prompting Addo to report the matter to the police.
Inkoom was subsequently arrested on January 11, 2024.
The case is set to continue on December 30, 2024, as the legal proceedings unfold.
