Liverpool are on the verge of finalizing the signing of Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, with the 24-year-old completing his medical on Monday, according to Sky Sports.

Frimpong, who played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s historic domestic double last season, is set to join the Reds after Liverpool triggered his €35 million (£29.5 million) release clause. The Netherlands international had already informed Leverkusen of his desire to move, and the Anfield giants acted swiftly to secure the deal.

Highly regarded by new Liverpool manager Arne Slot, Frimpong is expected to bring versatility and attacking flair to the squad, capable of operating both as a right-back and a winger.

Since arriving at Leverkusen in January 2021 from Celtic, the former Manchester City academy product has notched an impressive 30 goals and 44 assists in 190 appearances across all competitions.

Frimpong was initially signed by Leverkusen for up to £11.5 million from Celtic, where he had moved from Manchester City in 2019 for just £300,000. Born in Amsterdam to Ghanaian parents, Frimpong has steadily risen through the ranks to become one of Europe’s most dynamic full-backs.

If the deal goes through, he will become one of Slot's first major signings as Liverpool look to refresh their squad for the 2025/26 campaign.
