Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie has revealed the toughest challenge he faces each year as he prepares for his flagship Rapperholic concert — deciding which songs make it onto the set list.

Speaking in an interview on YFM Kumasi on September 23, 2025, ahead of his first-ever Rapperholic show in Kumasi, Sarkodie admitted that fans often feel disappointed when their favourite songs are left out.

“One of the hardest things to do is to decide what songs to perform. Every time there is Rapperholic, some fans get upset because they expect to hear particular tracks,” he said.

With an extensive catalogue of hits spanning more than a decade, the award-winning rapper noted that it is impossible to perform every track in one night.

“There are a lot of songs — it’s a huge catalogue. If I try to perform all of them, it becomes overwhelming. What I usually try to do is include songs that are not often performed,” he explained.

Sarkodie disclosed that narrowing down the playlist is always a challenge, but he and his team, led by long-time collaborator DJ Mensah, work to strike a balance between fan favourites and rare performances.

“Even if you’re not a Sarkodie fan, you’ve definitely heard songs like Can’t Let You Go and other big hits. Once we put those together, the performance runs close to two hours,” he added.

For this year’s concert, however, Sarkodie said his team is trying something different.

“Mensah suggested we compile a list of songs that haven’t been heard in a while. We’re also taking feedback from the fans to know which songs they’d like performed on stage,” he revealed.

The highly anticipated Rapperholic Kumasi edition is expected to thrill fans with a mix of timeless classics, crowd favourites, and rare gems from Sarkodie’s catalogue.
