An alleged dispute over payment and service terms has landed a man in trouble with the police in Sekondi after a commercial sex worker accused him of physically assaulting her.

The victim, identified only as Nancy, a Nigerian national who works in the Sekondi area of the Western Region, recounted her experience in an interview with Takoradi-based Connect FM. She said the incident occurred on the night of Friday, December 26.

According to Nancy, the man approached her for her services and the two agreed on a fee of GH¢50 for what she described as a short session. She said they later moved to the man’s residence to carry out the agreement.

However, Nancy alleged that the situation took a hostile turn when the man attempted to prolong the encounter beyond the agreed terms. When she informed him that she was tired and unable to continue, she claimed he became upset.

She further alleged that the man demanded a refund of the GH¢50, a request she refused, maintaining that she had already fulfilled her part of the agreement. The disagreement reportedly intensified when the man allegedly tried to seize her mobile phone.

Nancy claimed that when she resisted, the man physically attacked her, leaving her shaken and injured.

She said the matter has since been reported to the Sekondi Police, who have issued her with a medical report form to seek treatment at a health facility. Police investigations are currently underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.

The incident has once again drawn attention to the risks faced by vulnerable individuals operating in informal and unregulated spaces, particularly during disputes that escalate into violence.
