Senator Ned Nwoko alleges smear campaign using wife Regina Daniels to tarnish his reputation

Senator Ned Nwoko has alleged that a coordinated “syndicate of pull-down-Ned campaigners” is using his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, as a tool to smear his image and derail his political career.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, the Delta North Senator dismissed circulating rumours of marital conflict, insisting that his marriage to Regina remains “honourable and rooted in affection.”
“Our customs and traditions do not frown upon polygamy. What I did was to marry her honourably, give her a name, and treat her with dignity,” Nwoko stated.
He explained that their relationship has always been transparent, countering social media narratives suggesting estrangement between the couple.
“Our marriage has been public and transparent. Beyond the social media lifestyle, my world revolved around Regina. I pampered her and cared for her deeply — something everyone who has worked with me in Delta, Abuja, and elsewhere can attest to,” he said.
Nwoko claimed that Regina had become a “soft target” for his detractors, who have used her public profile to damage his reputation.
“It is disheartening to read all the filth being spread online. As the saying goes, when a wall cracks, the lizard finds its way in. Regina has become a weak point through which my political and personal enemies have been attacking me,” he lamented.
In his concluding remarks, the senator alleged that the smear campaign was part of a broader political conspiracy to undermine his credibility and stall his development initiatives.
“My decision to marry her properly according to tradition is now being twisted into a tool for political blackmail. This witch-hunt has been ongoing for years — an attempt to hinder my developmental strides and tarnish me now that I am a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he asserted.
The controversy has rekindled public debate over the couple’s marriage, with some critics accusing Nwoko of using his influence to control or intimidate Regina Daniels and her family.
Reports have also surfaced alleging that Regina’s siblings were arrested on the senator’s orders after she reportedly refused to return to their home — a claim that has further intensified scrutiny of the high-profile union.
