Before becoming Ghana’s self-acclaimed Dancehall King, Shatta Wale had dreams that soared far beyond the stage — quite literally.

In an interview on Primetime on Joy Prime, the award-winning musician revealed that as a child, he aspired to become a pilot, a lawyer, or even the president, explaining that he had always possessed a strong sense of leadership and purpose.

“I noticed early that my friends listened to me and took my words seriously,” he said. “I think that’s when I realised I had a natural gift for leadership.”

Shatta Wale shared that his fascination with aviation was so intense that he would spend hours playing flight simulation games, building virtual airports, and piloting planes. His interest in law also stemmed from his desire to make a difference, while politics, he believes, runs in his blood.

“With law, it’s not too late, but I don’t think it fits my schedule now,” he remarked. “As for politics, it’s in my DNA. My dad worked with the late J.J. Rawlings and his wife Nana Konadu, so I could have easily followed that path.”

The “Melissa” hitmaker proudly noted that he was a brilliant student, crediting his father, Shatta Capo, for instilling in him a love for discipline and self-education.

“My father’s motto was ‘know thyself and align with your dreams,’” he recalled. “I was never in the last ten until SHS — that was my wake-up call, and it never happened again.”

Reflecting on his journey, Shatta Wale admitted that while music has brought him fame and fortune, it has also come with challenges.

“I wish I had pursued those dreams because music has been stressful,” he said with a laugh. “But I always say whatever God plans for you is the best.”

For Shatta Wale, life may not have taken him to the skies or the courtroom, but his leadership dreams live on — redefined through rhythm, resilience, and the microphone.
