The Tema Circuit Court has granted bail of GH¢100,000 to Veronica Vorsah, the headmistress of St. Olives School of Grammar in Dodowa, with two sureties.

Ms. Vorsah faces charges of:

  • Causing harm under Section 69 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and

  • Assault under Section 84 of the same Act.

The charges arose following a Channel One News exposé alleging abuse of an eight-year-old pupil, Jalila Abdul Jalil, which prompted police investigations.

Following her release, Ms. Vorsah has met all bail conditions and is required to report to the Dodowa Police Command every Wednesday.

Prosecutors have indicated that they will seek further advice from the Office of the Attorney-General as investigations continue.

The court has adjourned the case to March 9, 2026, for further proceedings.
