Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Tamale North, Alhassan Saibu Suhuyini, has accused the Akufo-Addo led government of sponsoring Kennedy Agyapong to attack ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

According to the former 'Alhaji and Alhaji' show host, the pictures that have been splashed all over purported to be the real image of the award winning journalist could have been retrieved from the Ghana Immigration service which is a state owned institution.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong is on a crusade to discredit Anas following his latest investigative mastery on the thriving rot in Ghana’s football.

The outspoken politician and businessman has been on a collision course with the investigative journalist over his modus operandi.

He has promised to “expose” the award-winning undercover journalist because he believes he set people up for fame, recently releasing pictures he claims are Anas’.

Speaking on an Accra based radio station, the Tamale North lawmaker observed Mr. Agyapong’s relentless attacks on Anas may be state sponsored.

He stated; “Talking of intolerance, a celebrated journalist like Anas Aremeyaw Anas is facing some state sponsored threat,” he told Morning Starr host Francis Abban, adding: “The pictures being brandished on social media could have been obtained from state agencies like the Immigration service because they are passport pictures.”

Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ latest investigative piece, Number 1, will air on June 6. The piece seeks to reveal the rot in the sporting sector in Ghana.
