Super Clash: Kotoko’s win over Hearts was crucial for confidence-Karim Zito
10th November 2025
Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito says his side’s 1–0 win over Hearts of Oak in the Week 9 Super Clash was essential to boosting team morale and realigning their season objectives.
The victory, Kotoko’s second straight win since returning from a disappointing CAF Confederation Cup campaign, came courtesy of a Morifing Donzo penalty after Amankwaa Baafi’s foul on Peter Amidu Acquah late in the first half.
“Everybody knows Hearts and Kotoko — how difficult it is… At all costs, we had to beat them,” Zito said.
“If we want to set our target, we have to win this game. I’m very happy.”
Prior to the big encounter in Accra, Asante Kotoko had thrashed Karela United in a 6-goal thriller as they hit 4 past the visitors at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium whilst they responded with two goals.
Asante Kotoko are now unbeaten in six matches, with three games in hand, and sit 7th on the table with 14 points — just five off the top.
The Porcupine Warriors will now set their sights on their rescheduled fixture against Vision FC as they travel to the Nii Adjei Kraku Sports Complex in Tema New Town on Wednesday, November 12.
