There was surprise at the recently held 2024 Ballon d'Or Gala in Paris as one Journalist made a bizzare pick for the ballon dor award.

Yet, one vote in particular captured fans' attention and stirred debate: Equatorial Guinean journalist Fernando Beso’s unexpected selection of Athletic Bilbao's Ghanaian forward, Iñaki Williams, as a top pick.

While Rodri’s win was widely anticipated, Beso, one of the 100 international journalists tasked with voting for the Ballon d'Or, notably placed Williams as his second choice, following Vinícius Jr. and surprisingly ranking him above eventual winner Rodri.

The choice left some fans puzzled and generated lively discussions within the football community.

In an interview with El Partidazo de Cope, Beso shed light on his decision.

“The questionnaire provided clear parameters, and I used my personal judgment to rank players,” he explained. “I put Vinícius first, Williams second, and Rodri third.”

Beso’s unconventional pick for Williams ignited discussions among fans and analysts, spotlighting the varied perspectives of the global panel.

His choice not only highlighted Williams’s talent but also added a unique twist to the annual debate over football’s finest players.
