Veteran Ghanaian boxer and promoter, Michael Nii Ayitey Okine, popularly known as Ayittey Powers, has credited the late Nigerian preacher, Prophet TB Joshua, with saving his life during a period of deep personal struggle.

Speaking on The Real Talk Podcast hosted by Elizabeth Essuman, the light heavyweight fighter opened up about his life-changing encounter with the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), describing it as a spiritual turning point.

“A Nigerian saved my life. If not for him, I wouldn’t be alive today,” Ayittey Powers said emotionally.

With 48 professional bouts under his belt, the boxer reflected on how his visit to TB Joshua’s church in Nigeria transformed him.
“Many people who have not encountered the late prophet will never understand me, and that’s okay. In one week of my attending his church in Nigeria, my life turned around, it was like an angel physically was sent to me here on Earth,” he added.

In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, Ayittey Powers revealed he named one of his children “Joshua” in honour of the late prophet.
“One of my children is called, ‘Joshua’, and that is in respect to the late prophet for giving my life a meaning when all hope was lost,” he said.

Although Prophet TB Joshua passed away in 2021, Ayittey Powers said he continues to celebrate his legacy and influence. He also offered a piece of personal wisdom during the interview, attributing his renewed sense of purpose not only to faith but also to the impact of a woman who helped him gain clarity.

He encouraged men to value character over appearance when choosing a life partner.
