Terry Yegbe reflects on English Premiership miss, thrives at FC Metz
31st October 2025
Terry Yegbe, the 24-year-old Ghanaian centre-back, has revealed details of his failed move to the English Premier League during the January transfer window, admitting it was a setback — but one that fueled his determination.
“I almost got a move to the Premier League in January, but it didn’t happen… I told myself I’ll keep working. It’s all part of the process,” Yegbe told Flashscore.
After a standout season with Elfsborg in Sweden, Yegbe earned a four-year deal with FC Metz, keeping him at the Ligue 1 club until 2029.
Yegbe has quickly become a defensive pillar for Metz, showcasing positional awareness, strength in duels, and leadership at the back as he has featured in all eight (8) French Ligue 1 matches for the newly promoted side. His performances have helped stabilize the club’s backline in a competitive Ligue 1 campaign.
With Metz battling for mid-table consistency, Yegbe’s form will be crucial. His Premier League dream remains alive, but for now, he’s focused on delivering week in, week out in France.
