The head coach of the Black Stars, C.K Akonnor has come under intense pressure following the 1-0 defeat to South Africa at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

A spirited South African side defeated a hapless Black Stars side in their second World Cup qualifier at the FNB Stadium.

Maritzburg United striker Bongokuhle Hlongwane scored a dramatic late goal just as the match seemed to be heading for a stalemate.

Speaking in an interview with Ahomka FM, the former midfielder says that the current crop of players must up their game as playing for the Black Stars is different from playing for your club side.

"The current Black Stars players should up their game a bit and they should know the difference between national team and club. For qualifiers, you might go and play on a bad pitch and you need to adjust yourself."

Ghana will next play against Zimbabwe in October in a two legged encounter which will be a home and away game.

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu was capped 76 times by Ghana and scored 11 goals in the process.
