Thirty NDC supporters granted bail after unlawful protest at EC office

Thirty supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who went on rampage on Thursday at the premises of the Electoral Commission in Accra have been granted bail after being arraigned before a court on Friday morning.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its members have been at odds with the Electoral Commission over what they claim is a rigged elections in favour of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The NDC supporters numbering about thirty were represented in the Adjabeng court on Friday morning by the MP-elect for the Madina Constituency, Francis Xavier Sosu in court.
Scores of irate NDC supporters on Thursday 18th December,2020 besieged the premises of the Electoral Commission and had to be dispersed with water cannons, tear gas among others.
Some Recalcitrant ones despite the Police doing all it can to disperse them were burning lorry tyres and causing heavy vehicular traffic.
Counsel for the accused persons in an interview with Accra based Citi Fm monitored by Ghanaguardian.com revealed that the case has been adjourned to 25th January,2020 for the accused to reappear.
“They are supposed to reappear on January 25, 2021.
“They were arraigned before the court on three charges: conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and failure to notify the police. They pleaded not guilty to all the counts.”
“The bail is GHS 10,000 with one surety each. We are currently working to execute the bail for them,” the lawyer added.
